Big brands engage visitors at the Silverstone Classic 2016

A number of big brands took the opportunity to engage with more than 100,000 visitors at the world’s biggest classic motor racing festival, the Silverstone Classic, this weekend; an event organised and managed by Goose Live Events.

Now in its 26th year, the three-day event was used as a platform by a variety of global brands, with major activations from Jaguar, eBay, JET, Porsche, Silverstone Auctions, Maserati, and Korean car manufacturer SsangYong, returning after a successful brand debut in 2015 as VIP courtesy car providers.

Jaguar, the official experiential partner for the Classic, offered all attendees the F-TYPE Art of Performance Tour experience with a state of the art F-TYPE being pushed to the limit within the event’s Adrenaline Zone, while a live restoration of a Range Rover Classic unfolded in front of the crowds; a challenge hosted by eBay using only parts and accessories sourced from the online marketplace. In addition, JET offered visitors a virtual 1960s style racing challenge, using replica vintage race cars and multi driving screens to create an engaging, competitive experience. The event also featured a special motoring nod to the 50th anniversary of England’s victory over Germany in the World Cup with car football fun supported by SsangYong with their Tivoli range. The world of F1 (Damon Hill, Anthony Davidson and Johnny Herbert) took on the world of football (John Barnes, Steve Hodge and John Stiles) in an entertaining car football match. A film of this is available to view here.

On top of all this, the annual classic motor racing festival was provided with official course cars by Maserati, a fantastic display for visitors to enjoy was created by Porsche Classic GB, and sales over the weekend with Silverstone Auctions achieved a total sale value of £4.9m.

Attendees also enjoyed live music from The Boomtown Rats, Reef and The Stranglers, plus spectacular air displays and plenty of free entertainment for the whole family providing flat-out family fun.

Nick Wigley, CEO of Goose Live Events and Event Director for the Silverstone Classic comments: “This year’s Silverstone Classic was one of our best with some great feedback across the board. Our partners provide great support to the event and it’s fantastic to be working with so many high profile organisations. In addition, it was the first time for us working with Prostate Cancer UK to help raise awareness and fundraise in support of this important cause, which was a great new charity partnership for the event.”
